Painted Comber - Burqax

It is very common in Malta. It can grow up to 11 inches in length. Normally found in shallow waters.

Blue Damselfish - Cawla

Another very common fish in Malta. It is normally 3 to 5 inches in length and normally found in close inshore waters.

Large-Scaled Scorpion Fish - Cippullazza.

Quite common in maltese waters. Reddish in colour and its size can vary between 10 and 24 inches. Normally caught from deep, rocky bottomed waters.

Axillary Wrasse - Boxbox

Not so common nowadays. Can also vary in colour. Usually between 4 and 12 inches in length. Normally found on weedy bottoms.

Angler Fish - Petrica

Still quite frequent in certain areas. Normally found on weedy and stony bottom.Can also vary in colour. Normally between 2ft and 7ft in length.

String Ray - Boll / Bonn

Frequently found in maltese waters. Varies in sizes between 1.5ft and 6ft. Must be handled carefully due to the dangerous sting found along its tail.

Rock Fish / Grouper - Dott tal-Fond.

Normally found in deep waters with a rocky bottom. Brownish / Greyish in colour and can grow up to 5 feet in length

Rainbow Wrasse - Gharusa

Very common in shallow inshore waters. Can vary in colour but easily distinguished by the vertical coloured stripes. Normally between 6 and 10 inches in length.
