Endless night passing me by
Seems like there's no day in sight;
Ever since we said our last goodbye
Life resembles an endless night.
Cold wind pierces deep into my heart
As I blindly stare at the starless sky
Wondering if I should still hold on
To a love that would not die.
The seasons come and go
Like a rushing river that waits for no man;
Time seems to have pulled us apart
And buried my dreams in a huge wasteland.
Tears which in silence flow
From sorrows hidden within me
Is something you'll never know
Nor will ever get to see.
In quiet moments of this endless night
Memories of you bring on a bittersweet smile;
They offer a distant ray of light
For just that little while.
At times I wish we had never met
Nor shared any moments together
For time now forces us to part
Mercilessly tearing us asunder.
But in all the disappointment and the pain
God sustains me by His infinite grace;
He takes me through the Refiner's fire
And leads me on to seek His face.
He knows my heartaches and my hurts
He feels my pain and bitterness;
He reaches out His arms of healing
To embrace me with love and tenderness.
In this period of darkness
God awakens me to re-discover
That His compassion fails not
And His love endures forever.
As Abraham had offered up his cherished son
So shall I lay my "Isaac" before You
Trusting that You will provide a better way
For You're forever faithful and true.
Though the night may now surround me
Though Your purpose I may not yet see
But Your mercy and grace will never end
Let Your Name be praised throughout eternity.
I'll bring every thought of this dark night
Into captivity to the obedience of Christ
For Jesus is my source of strength and light,
My Hope of Glory as I press toward the Prize.
Blessed be the Lord my Rock.
Let the God of my salvation be exalted. Amen!
"Why are you so downcast, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him,
the help of my countenance and my God."
