Living Hope

Dragging my feet
Head bowed down
Facing defeat
No hope found.

Discouraged and tired
Doubts firing at me
Has God my prayers heard
Does He not my struggles see?

Weighed down by heavy burdens
Suffocated by worldly cares
Lonely heart suffering in silence
Trapping me in the devil’s snares.

Out of painful desperation
I cried out to the Lord alone
Open heartfelt confession
I knelt before His gracious throne.

Caught in His loving embrace:
Words of comfort, gentle kisses on my face
Mighty arms of healing grace
Holds me tightly in His resting place.

"My child, my beloved child,
Do not be afraid.
I love you dearly
Do not be dismayed.

I know you have been grieved,
I have surely heard your cries
Your pain I have received
Let Me wipe the tears from your eyes.

Though now you may not understand
What I have in store for you
But trust in Me and hold My hand
Let Me lead you to the Promised Land.

Be strong and do not fear
With vengeance your God will come
For the Lord is very near
He will save His chosen ones.

Arise! Arise! Arise!
Go forth with faith and courage
A living hope you have in Christ
Incorruptible is your eternal heritage."

"In this you greatly rejoice,
though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
These have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold,
which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and
may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed."
(1 Peter 1:6-7 NIV)
