Our Faith

Our family belongs to our local "Friends" church which is another name for Quaker. No, we don't wear bonnets and long black dresses or have the men sit on one side of the church and women on the other. Actually, it would probably be impossible to point us out from any other group of Christians.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That he was born of a virgin, lived on earth as a man and that he was crucified and rose from the dead. That anyone who believes in him and confesses this belief with their mouth and repents of their sin, can have eternal life through Him.

I accepted the Lord as saviour when I was 12 years old. We were visiting my cousin's Grandmother in North Carolina and she sat us all down and started reading stories from the Bible. I had always known there was a God and that Jesus was his Son, but I had never heard about salvation! Unfortunately, when we returned home, there was no one to show me what to do with this newly acquired faith. I lived in a single parent home with my Mom and brothers and sister and we didn't attend church. I know my family loved me, but sometimes when I'd mess up, they'd say "okay, 'Christian.'" I was so very frustrated.

But you know what? God found a way.... (and has continued to do so all my life!). About a year after returning from North Carolina, my Aunt Connie and Uncle Wallace invited almost everyone in our entire family to a new church they had found. Well, just about everyone went and loved it! I loved it too and went to the altar to rededicated my life to the Lord. I was 13 years old at the time and my Aunt and Uncle made it their personal mission to make sure that I was in church every single Sunday for the next 4 years! They would drive across town (even through blizzards) and pick me up every Friday or Saturday night and took me back home every Sunday. They were always there to help me deal with any issue at all. They prayed with me, talked to me.... gave me a shoulder to cry on. Looking back, I realize how much they loved me and how much of an impact they had on my life. Aunt Connie and Uncle Wallace, if you're reading this... please know that I LOVE YOU so very much and thank God for unselfish sacrifices you made for me and the difference you made in my life!!

I love the Lord with all my heart and I hope to use this page as a witnessing tool. I believe that Christians need to step up to the plate and take a BOLD stand for the things that they believe in. I believe we need to quit backing down when people call us zealots and fanatics! If someone spends gobs of time on the computer or playing sports, people don't call them fanatics or freaks, but boy, just talk about your love of the Lord or admit that you spend time studying the word and people roll their eyes and label you as a "Jesus freak."

I believe that abortion and euthanasia are wrong. I believe in sexual purity and accountability. I believe that God meant for women to only be joined with a man, period! And I'm not ashamed of those beliefs. That doesn't mean that I have hateful feelings or would use violent actions against people who don't believe as I do. I can't think of one instance in the history of the world, where hate and violence won anyone over the Lord.

When Angels sense you need them,
        and Angels always do
        They come, unseen, from everywhere
        to help and comfort you...
        They hover close beside you
till all your cares are gone,
Till they can see you're ready
        once again to carry on...
Then some of them may fly away
        and take their gentle touch
To other hearts that need the love
        of angels very much.
But one at least stays with you,
as your constant friend and guide
For Guardian Angels never leave you
        They're always by your side....
