1-162, No. 177, Bill of Sale: June 3, 1818: Thomas Ussery to Jos. Morehead, Bill Salle: Know all me by these presents, that I, Thomas Ussery, of the county of Maury and State of Tennessee, have, for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto Jos. Morehead of the County and State aforesaid, a certain negro man by the name of Charles, which negro man was left me by father's will at the death of my mother; and I the said Thomas Ussery, doth warrant and defend the title of said negro, against myself, my heirs, and all manner of persons whatsoever, unto the said Joseph Morehead his hears and assigns, and also do warrant said negro to be sound and sensible. In witness to hereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, this 3rd day of June 1818. Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of: Jas. M. Carthel, Jurat, James N. Smith, Jurant. Thomas Ussery

On the back of the above Bill was written: State of Tennessee, Maury County, I Joseph B. Court Records

Meigs County Minutes; May 1842: Came John Usery into court on a charge of Bastardy on the oath of Mary Ann Cowley before Jesse Martin, a Justice of the Peace. Said Usery must pay $15 for maintenance of the child this year, $10 next year, and $5 for the third year; and pay all costs of the suit. He is committed to jail until he makes bond.

Ussery of Montgomery Co, TN appointed John Smith attorney to demand of his uncle Pleasant Ussery, his share of the estate of his deceased father, William Ussery, and share of estate of brother William Ussery, now in possession of Pleasant Ussery." This Indenture made and entered into this twelfth day of January 1820 between Joseph Rodgers of the county of White Tennessee State of the one part and Thomas Usery of the Same County and State aforesaid. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of four hundred and fifteen dollars to the said Usery in hand paid by the Said Rodgers the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and Sold unto the Said Rodgers two tracts of land One containing twenty acres Granted by the State of Tennessee be the same ore or less Grant No. 10762 dated 21st Sept 1817. Granted to Said Usery bounded as followeth. Begining at post Oak John Wallings South West Corner on Equillo Greers line runing thence East With Wallings line forty poles to two post oaks, thence north eighty poles to back Jack and hickory thence west forty poles to post in Equilla Greers line thence South eighty poles to the begining, also one other tract of land Containing twenty five acres Granted by the State of Tennessee to Jonathan C. Davis by No. 10921 dated 18th Nov. 1817 bounded as followeth to wit, Beginning at a Small Sassafras and hickory twenty five poles north from John Walling, North East corner of 100 acres thence north eighty poles to hickory and post Oak pointers thence west fifty poles to a post oak, thence South eighty poles to tewo black jacks, thence East fifty poles to the beginning, together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to have and to hold the aforesaid two tracts of land with the appurtenances, thereunto belonging unto the Said Joseph Rodgers h is heirs or assigns forever, And the said Tomas Usery for himself his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the title to the two before mentioned tracts of land to him and said Joseph Rodgers his heirs &c. will warrant the titled to him the Rodgers against the claim of him the said Usery or any other person Whatsoever Claiming Said land. This Indenture made this third day of July 1816 between Thomas Ussery of the county of Warren and State of Tennessee of the one part and David Hudson of the County of White and State aforesaid of the other. Witnesseth That said Thomas Ussery for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath and by these presents Doth grant bargain, Sell Allien enfeoff and Confirm unto the David Hudson his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land containing thirty acres by estimation Which was Granted unto Thomas Ussery by the State of Tennessee by Grant No. 8497, situate lying and being in White County.
