Section Four of the act would direct the Secretary of Defense to study the feasibility and desirability of expanding Junior ROTC, Civil Air Patrol, Naval Sea Cadet Corps and the Young Marines. Section Four of the bill also expresses that Congress finds such programs provide significant benefits for the Armed Forces, including significant public relations benefits, and that Congress has substantial interest in expanding the scope of these programs! The bill also requires the Secretary of Defense to provide a report of the findings and recommendations no later than 180 days from the enactment of the bill. Action: Write your Representative and your Senators (the bill must also go to the Senate) in support of the bill, which could lead to increased DoD/Navy support for our Sea Cadets. In the same letter thank your Congressmen/Congresswomen for providing $1 million in funding for the Naval Sea Cadet Corps in the FY 2002 Defense Appropriations Bill.
