GUIDE FOR USING THE NUMBERING SYSTEM

The Worsham Family is very large and it has become necessary to choose a numbering system to identify each member. We hope the following explanation, will help make our numbering system more clear.

To begin with, William Worsham will be 1. as he is the oldest known Worsham and his brother, George will be 2. Because William's wife, Elizabeth married Francis Eppes after William died, she will be 3. Children receive a number according to the order of their birth. For example: William & Elizabeth had 5 children. They will be numbered 1.1.; 1.2.; 1.3.; 1.4.; 1.5. George & Mary had 1 child, George who would be 2.1.

Multiple marriages have been assigned a letter after the individuals name. For example: 1.4.1B.3. indicates 4 is the 4th child of the oldest known ancestor. 1B indicates he was married twice. The 3 identifies the individual as being the 3rd child of a second marriage.

To trace ancestry of an individual, simply work backward dropping the last number for each generation. For example: If an individual had a number 1.4.1.5.4.3., his parents would have the number 1.4.1.5.4. His grandparents would have the number 1.4.1.5.
