Dante is my second horse, and a
great one at that!
A beautiful big warmblood, he
measures at 16.1hh (for now) with a huge barrel.
Dante (show/registered name "Dunleary")
is a branded Oldenburg
gelding
by Deutschmeister,
out of Glendora (by Glencoe).
Since he was bred and born in
Canada, his brand (shown above)
has the "NA" for North America
in addition to the crowned "O"
seen on German-bred Oldenburgs.
Dante is registered as a bay,
but is graying out over time,
giving him a beautiful dapple
rose gray color.
Look at me!!
Dante is just a baby, at 4 years
old, and shows most every green horse quality.
He is certainly a switch from
Jake,
with his Warmblood mind and overall
lack of experience,
but he promises to be a fun project
and a good friend.
The day I met Dante, at the barn
where he was bred and raised
(Camelot Stables in Vancouver-area
B.C., Canada).
Dante at his new home. So much to look at! |
Taking a well-deserved break... |
and back to work... |
but not forgetting the play, with our friends Anne and Grady! |
And, of course, we've had a few rainy day rides...
Here, the rose in his coat really comes out. |
Getting ready for a trail ride with our friends Ann and Mick. |
The First Horse Show!
Well, actually, the second, but
the first I have pictures from.
Dante went with me to the Diamond
Classic,
an AHSA "B" show running from
March 22-25, 2001.
We did it mostly for experience,
but he was so good that I showed him in two classes
(English Pleasure and Bridle Path
Hack). To my surprise, he placed in both!
Sixth in EP (out of 14, a big
flat class for a first-timer!) and fourth in BPH (of 12).
I was very proud of him!
Before our first class |
"I don't get what the big deal is..." |
Look at that face! |
Dante seems to think everything within reach is part of his personal snack bar... |
New Barn!
Dante is now a permanent resident
of Creekside Sport Farm
in Roy, Washington.
Phew! Finally, a place he can
call home again!
Dante has moved 3 times between
December and April (although it has been REALLY good for him!);
prior to December he resided at
Camelot since birth.
Here are some pictures at the
new place.

Now, if he can just keep the frame at the horse shows, we'll be great! |
