Songster Leader Marilyn Allington is an Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music (Piano) and teaches privately. She is chairperson of the Kawartha Independent Music Teachers Association and is very involved in local music festivals, both as a teacher and accompanist.
Marilyn moved to Peterborough in 1980. She as three sons. Marilyn is the daughter of the late Lt. Col. Joseph and Beulah Craig and is the third generation of her family to attend Peterborough Temple Corps.
During its ninety years the Peterborough Temple Songsters have enjoyed the support of many outstanding accompanist. Mrs. Alice Smith has recently retired from the position of Corps and Songsters organist which she did for 55 years.
Darlene Carr, A.R.C.T. the current accompanist, has held that position since 1971, has also represented the Kawartha Music Teachers' Association and now serves on the Music Festival Committee as a Kiwanian. Both Marilyn and Darlene recently received the City of Peterborough Award of Merit, recognizing their volunteer contribution to the Kiwanis Music Festival over a number of years.
