"Top Ten Reasons for Being a Peterborough Temple Songster"
10 Scriptural teaching - from Exodus to Revelation, singing has been used to express praise and adoration.
9 God gives us the talent and expects us to use it for His glory.
8 It is part of our heritage. At Peterborough Temple there has been a songster brigade for 92 years.
7 It is a means of fellowship. As a group we can encourage and support each other e.g. we shared a good time on the bus going to Gospel Song November 7th. Our two newest songsters put signs on the back windows reading: "Smile, Jesus Loves You" and "Honk if you love Jesus" and had many responses. Well done, Amanda & Jenny!
6 It is an aid to worship; each Sunday we pray that God will use our ministry to bring people closer to Him.
5 It is an outreach ministry when we sing at hospitals, nursing homes, malls, etc., we bring hope and cheer.
4 It is an opportunity to witness in our uniform when we speak, sing or pray for the Salvation of souls.
3 Being part of songsters provides the discipline to help us maintain our commitment.
2 It opens doors to mountain-top experiences; e.g. Gospel Song singing with 300 other songsters in Roy Thompson Hall; invitations to St. John's Temple, Newfoundland!
1 Our promise when we sign our commission:
"I shall do all in my power to fulfil the duties required, with the ernest desire that by doing so I shall become a winner of souls and bring Glory to my Saviour to whom I shall look for needful power and grace."
