Sworn Statement by Lt. W. F. Angevines

of Co. K 98th Regiment of NY Infantry

Regarding Pvt. Daniel Scantlin

All Whom it May Concern -

Know ye, that Daniel Scantlin, a private of Lieut. W. F. Angevines Company K 98th Regiment of New York Infantry Volunteers who was enrolled on the tenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and sixty one to serve three years or during the war is hereby discharged from the service of the United States this Twenty-Eighth day of November 1864 at Chaffins Farm VA by reason of expiration of letter of service. (No objection to his being re-enlisted is known to exist*) Said Daniel Scantlin was born in Ireland in the State of ------ is Forty-four years of age, five feet, nine inches high, light complexion. Black eyes, gray hair, and by occupation where enrolled a farmer.

Given at Chaffins Farm this Twenty Eighth day of November 1864.

*This sentence should be erased, should have been anything in his conduct or physical condition of the soldier rendering him unfit for the army.
