Thomas P. Gardner

Born: August 8, 1829 - Farmington, Ontario Co., NY

Died: August 12, 1883 -Farmington, Ontario Co., NY

Son of Elisha W. Gardner and Sarah Pattison

Born in Farmington, Ontario County, New York. Thomas was educated in the public schools and from the Academy at Macedon Center, New York. He worked on his father's farm until his marriage to Henrietta L. Robbins in 1853. They remained on the farm for many years, and raised large yields of fine fruit. Later in life he retired from farming and moved to the village of New Salem in Farmington, NY and took up the practice of veterinary medicine, which he followed to the balance of his life, becoming a noted veterinary surgeon. He was a birth right member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and his children were instructed in that faith.

Henrietta L. Robbins

Born: May 15, 1830 - Walworth, Wayne Co., NY

Died: January 26, 1903 - Farmington, Ontario Co., NY

Daughter of Captain Lester Robbins and Selinda Mathewson.

Henrietta was born in Walworth, Wayne County, NY and was a birth right member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Her mother, Selinda Mathewson, was born December 18, 1789 in Rhode Island and died April 15, 1845 in Walworth, NY. Selinda was the daughter of Daniel Mathewson (born January 17, 1748/49 in Glocester, Rhode Island and died September 28, 1832 in Walworth, Wayne County, NY, buried in the Baker Cemetery, Walworth, NY) who was an Ensign and Lieutenant in the Rhode Island Militia during the American Revolution, and Abigail Shippee (born Abt. 1748 in Glocester, Rhode Island and died Aft. 1810 in Walworth, NY, buried in the Baker Cemetery, Walworth, NY. Her father, Lester Robbins, born June 11, 1793, Ashford, Connecticut, was a Captain of a riflemen company in Wayne County during the War of 1812, (with Lieutenant Silas Barton and Ensign Levi Leach). Lester and Selinda are buried in the Finley Cemetery, Walworth, NY. Lester's father was Benjamin Robbins (b. June 11, 1764). Lester's mother was Lois Carpenter, daughter of Hezikiah Carpenter and Lois Corban. Benjamin's parents were Joseph Robbins (b. July 12, 1719 in Attleborough, Massachusetts) and Lucy. Joseph's parents were John Robbins (b. abt. 1686 in Reading, Massachusetts; d. August 1774, Attleborough, Massachusetts) and Hannah Clark (b. December 1, 1692 in Medfield, Massachusetts; d. July 1773 in Attelborough), daughter of Captain Joseph Clark and Mary Wight. John Robbins was the son of William Robbins (b. abt. 1651; d. August 18, 1725 in Walpole, Massachusetts) and Pricilla Gowing (b. 1655 in Wentham, Massachusetts; d. March 5, 1743/44 in Walpole, Massachusetts). Pricilla's parents were Robert Gowing (b. 1618 in Scotland; d. June 7, 1698 in Lynn, Massachusetts) and Elizabeth Brock (b. in England). Elizabeth's parents were Henry Brock (b. England; d. 1652) and Elizabeth. Henry Brock's father was Walter le Broc of Gloucestershire, England. Walter le Broc's father was Henry le Brok of County Devon, England. Henry le Brok's father was Geoffrey de la Brok of County Kent, England. Geoffrey de la Brok's father was William del Brok of County Essex, England.
