Le Petit Prince

by Antoine de Saint Exupery

I read this (in english) in 8th grade and people kept telling me there was supposed to be another level to the story - a hidden meaning. I had no clue what they were talking about and I'm a pretty good reader. My honors French III class read it junior year and now that I understand it ;-) I love this book! So here's my page for it :o) (links updated 07/12/02).

~*~ Chapter 21 - My favorite chapter! :) (in english) ~*~

When taking a look at my main page I noticed 2 things, the titles time well spent and my "hidden treasure" and thought of the Little Prince...
  • The Little Prince talks a lot about what is really important in life . . . time well spent seems to capture some of the idea.
  • Hidden Treasure is the show name my mother and I chose for the pony I retrained last year - because that's really what she is, no one expected her to be as wonderful as she turned out to be, but I saw what was in her and spent a lot of time building our bond (necessary because her main problem was she was nervous and didn't trust her riders). When I started with her, I went twice a week to volunteer and rode her at 5pm both days. This curious mare seemed to say "apprivoiser moi" and she even whinnied to me as I walked towards her paddock, she'd come to the gate as well. If you've at least read chapter 21, you'd notice how much this is like the fox. Additionally I sat in her paddock and let her and the others get used to me. The Narrator realizes, in one chapter, that the treasure in his house was really the things invisible to the eye; the same goes for Misty and why she's my hidden treasure. And, like the fox and narrator, I was sad when I had to say goodbye to her too.
