in Picardie. He came in New France in 1665 as a soldier of the régiment
de Carignan. After his marriage with Jeanne Sauvenier
in 1670, he initially settled in Sainte-Famille, Île d'Orléans
then in l'Île-aux-Oies, close to my ancestor
Pierre Micheau.
In 1672, the intendant Jean
Talon had conceded the seigneurie de Rivière-Ouelle to Jean-Baptiste
Deschamps de la Bouteillerie. Jean Soucy was among the first
ones to settle there. He deceased in 1678. His widow, Jeanne
Sauvenier married again the following year to Damien
Bérubé, another of my ancestors. From his marriage
with Jeanne, Jean Soucy had 4 children, including 2 boys.
