Dear Alice
I write a day earlier this week that I may send it with the dress by Emma J. when she goes tomorrow morning. I have just finished the skirt and there is a large pattern of the lace left for the waist and sleeves. Be sure and save and bring home whatever is left of lace silk or lining. The lace you know is too expensive to waste any of it. If there is anything needed that I have not sent you can buy it. I send you also by E. J. $20.00. Pay Mrs Spohr your board and for making the waist as soon as it is due.
George and Aunt have not returned yet. Frank received a postal from her, written the 20th saying that G- could not go without his crutch yet and that if everything was all right here, they would stay a few days longer.
Do not think of coming home before commencement if you do get through with all you have to do: stay and see it all out.
Frank has been blackberrying twice this season and we are having blackberry pie. We are having a nice shower, but it is too late to do any good to the grain and will only wet the hay that is down.
New Pioneer Hall is completed and is to be dedicated June 3rd. Your father has received an invitation to be present with his family. Some of us will probably go.
My Delineator has not come yet. I shall have to write and put them in mind of it if they do not send it soon.
I have put a white thread in the front of your skirt so that you may know when you get it strait.
I intended to go out to ride this afternoon but the rain has put a stop to that and I'll have to stay at home
From your mother,
E. M. Watrous
