Dear Alice:
Your last was received in due season, and I was glad to hear you were feeling well.
Frank has gone to the theatre this evening with Aunt. George's feet are troubling him a good deal and he is talking of going down to see Dr Ward. He told you to ask the Dr if he could see him Sunday, but you have never said any thing about it and we concluded you had forgotten it. I think they have written to him to see if he will see him on that day.
They are working away at the house but it seems to me that they are getting along rather slowly. We have engaged Mr Schneider to build on our bathroom, and George Schuler to do the work that is in his line. The lumber will be ordered tomorrow, and work I suppose will be commenced soon. I think it is rather doubtful about our getting the chimney torn down and that alteration made at present as your father seems to think it is needless expence, and that the house is all right as it is. I can have the blinds taken out and the curtains put up. Frank took up the dining room carpet today. Shall take my carpet rags down to have them woven as soon as I can get out. The buggy is not done yet.
Your father says he is going to have a hammock in Emma Jane's basement this Summer; he says that is the best part of the house.
I hope this will find you still feeling well.
From your mother
E. M. Watrous.
