Dear Alice:
Your last was received, with the money order. Your father took it down to the office and had the name changed. You will notice that it is given to Alice M Watrous, and you must sign your name the same.
Emma J. and Ben are in tending to go to S. F. to night on the boat; he has business in the City and while he is attending to it E. J. will go to see Joe. Friday night they intend to go to Berkeley and stay with you. Ben will come home Sunday night but she intends to stay a while. If you receive this before they get there you had better put in your time studying till they get there. Aunt says she wrote you to meet her in Oakland Saturday, but did not know for certain whether she could go or not but would send word when I wrote. I have not seen any of them to day. Perhaps E. J. can tell you.
I have had two men housecleaning two days this week and am going to do a little more to day. Am making the change I spoke of when you were here. Your father will not get away before April.
I send the silk down by E. J. so if you want your dress fixed before I come either you or she can do it.
I will not stop to write much this morning as I am in a hurry and you will have a chance to ask all the questions you want to. Be sure and put the M. in your name when you sign it.
From your mother
E. M. Watrous.
