Can a person who is already saved become lost?? Most people from denominations I met believe that once you're saved, you cannot fall away. I have found many verses in the Bible that say one can fall away, very clearly.
Jesus said Himself that the one who endured to the end would be saved.(Matt. 10:22) In Heb. 6:4-6, the author says that if one who had once been enlightened and been partakers of the Holy Spirit, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them to repentance. This clearly says that falling away is possible. Can we never be saved again after falling away according to this?? Everything is possible with God.(Matt. 19:26)
In Heb. 10:26,27, it says, "For if we go on sinning willfully after recieving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgement and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries." Clearly, if we go on sinning willfully, we will fall away which will cause us to go to hell if we don't repent.
2 Pet. 2:20 says "For if after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them as the first." Again, it says that we can become entangled in the world after being saved. If we do fall from grace and die that way, it will be worse than if we had never been saved. Who can deny what these scriptures have obviously told us?
