Here are some common misconceptions that are found in denominations today.
One of the most popular misconceptions is that all you have to do is accept Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior and you will be saved. This is such a very dangerous view because it's so easy to believe. It's so easy to accept that most people do. Yes, if you take a few scriptures of your choice, you could say that that is true, but if you believe the whole Bible, you'll find that the it differs from the majority of people's beliefs. (Matt. 7:13,14)
Here are a few reasons given to support that there is more to being saved than just belief.
Another common misconception is that once you're saved, you're always saved and can never be lost again. There are many NT scriptures clearly stating that if you fall from the Truth, it willl be worse than if you never knew it to begin with.
Many people also believe that all denominations are part of Christ's one church. But Christ spoke of ONE church, not churches(Matt 16:18). Not many different bodies. Paul said that there is "one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism,..." (Eph 4:4,5) One faith, one body. Do all churches have the same beliefs?? Out of all the hundreds of denominations in the world, no two have the exact same beliefs. So which one is Christ's church?? Not all can follow the Truth. There is only one Truth. The only church that will go to heaven; the only church that is Christ's is the church that follows everything the Bible says correctly.
The use of musical instruments in worship is also common among our society. In 2 Tim. 2:15, we are told to rightly divide the word of truth, accurately handling it. In the Old Testament, God allowed people to use instruments to worship Him, after David asked to. God never commanded it. After Jesus died, the old Law was abolished.(Heb. 8:8,13) Instruments in the new law were never authorized by God. In fact, God only authorized singing in worship.(Col 3:16; 1Cor 14:15; Heb 13:15; Eph 5:19) Every example in the New Testament of musical worship was singing. Never did anyone in the church use a musical instrument. Why should we differ from the churches in biblical times? We should not add to God's Word(Rev. 22:18). By using musical instruments, we are adding to what the church and Bible have shown us.
