GEORGE HAYES WIGGIN, JR. was born 25 Jun 1928, the firstborn, in Bayard, Nebraska, and raised on a 2400 acre cattle ranch near Bridgeport. George was named for his father. At the age of 15 George moved, with his family, to Benton Co, Arkansas, the land of the Ozarks. He didn't want to move to the Ozarks and be labeled a "hillbilly." One day he didn't come home from school, thinking that if he hid out he wouldn't have to move. However, this did not work, and soon found his way with the family to the Ozarks. There he attended high school in Southwest City, MO. He played the trumpet for several years, mostly for his own enjoyment. George went to Texas for work, graduated from high school while living there. He spent two or three years in Texas before joining the Navy. George spent one year in the Navy prior to moving to Washington State where he attended Northwest Bible College. In Shelton, WA he met Arlene Tidyman, who was born 29 Apr 1933, and married Arlene 14 Feb 1950.

George and his family spent many years pastoring churches. Some of the places were Sisters, OR; Provo and American Forks, Utah; Cody, Pine Bluffs, and Lander, Wyoming; Pogosa Springs, Colorado. More recently in Delta Junction, Alaska, where they pastored in the Assembly of God church and currently (1995) is pastor of the Assembly church in Huston, Alaska. Arlene mastered the long dark winter days in Alaska by making beautiful quilts, and ministering to pastors wives as she taught them quilt making.

Following their 12 years in Delta Junction, George and Arlene spent 3 months, (March- May 1991) with a missionary team in Bulgaria. In 1992 and 1993 they returned to that country, and to Romania and Albania.

They ministered in the Faith Fellowship group of people who meet in a home for a couple of years. Along with his ministry, George works as a block layer and a mechanic. George and Arlene, in 1994, became the managers of the Assembly of God camp--Little Beaver Camp, Big Lake near Wasilla, Alaska. George is still pastoring at a small community church nearby at Huston. During the week, George drives the local school bus.

In June 1996 a disastrous fire broke out surrounding the camp and resulted in burning a total of over 37,000 acres and 344 homes. The camp garage and two small buildings beside it were lost in the fire. The MAP workers had to be evacuated along with family who had met for a family gathering along with over 500 people in the community. The following day of the fire this group of MAP workers, and family formed a circle and prayed. The garage was burning at the time. Though the fire came within a few feet of the cabins and closer to other buildings, there was a ring of burn surrounding the camp. Intercessory Prayer works! A fitting climax to this is the story of the chain saw. During the fire, a close neighbor was desperately attempting to save his home. His chain saw quit working so he ran up to the camp, called around, no one answered so he helped himself to the chain saw stored in the garage. The chain saw was saved from the burning garage!

George and Arlene began their family in 1952. To this union were born three girls. Marlona Von, Becky Lorraine, and a baby stillborn. Later Diana was adopted into the family when she was 5 days old.
