Thomas James Williams

Lovina Jane's father Gifford Michel and mother Lovina had nine children: Clarity Delight Oct 30, 1845, Annie A pril 18, 1848, Elizabeth Mar 12, 1850, Lovina Jane Aug 22, 1852, Steven Gifford May 1, 1855, Henrietta Mar 16 , 1858, Henry Warren Feb 2, 1864 and Edgar Owen Jun 3, 1867. Monty Montana is Edgar Owen's son. The Michels lived on a farm and he also had a blacksmith shop and worked in it as long as he was able. They were good, hard working, Christian people. Gifford died in 1906 at the age of 83.Lovina died in 1916 at the age of 89. At the time of her death they had seven living children, forty-three grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren and 50 great great grandchildren.

Lovina Sperry's brothers and sisters were Elain Hanna-died in infancy, Elijah, Elain Russel, Henrietta, William and Elianor. Gifford's father had 24 children, but there is not anything known about them: Joh, Anna, Carrie, David, Mariah, Henry, Jacob, Andrew, William, Eli, Eliza, Stephen, Gifford, Elizabeth, Jaremiah, Polly and Emily.

Thomas James moved from Indiana to Iowa then to Spencer SD. They lived 29 years in Iowa till the spring of 1885 before moving to South Dakota, where they lived till the fall of 1887. But the open land in Nebraska turned them onward to the Bayard, Nebraska area. In future years TJ was to become the County Assessor (in Nebraska) from 1892 until 1896.

Thomas James and Lovina had seven children: Rose, Ina, Lela, Millie, Alva, Roland and Guy:


ROSE IZARS was born February 9, 1872 and died in 1951 of a heart condition. She married Andrew Williamson in 1890.Rose was born in Manchester, Butler Co Iowa. When Rose was 14 years old the family made a trip to Salem, SD. Rose drove the oxen- pulled covered wagon, her mother drove a team of horses, and her father drove a herd of cattle. From SD they went to North Platte, Nebraska, on to Ogalla then to Bayard. Rose and Andrew had seven children: Floyd, Bessie, Eva, Louis, Claude, Roy and Glen.

MYRTLE INA "INIE" was born January 6, 1876 and died in 1953 from a stroke. Ina was born in Butler Co. Iowa and was buried in Bayard, Morrill Co. Nebraska. She married Pete Baltes. After his death Ina married Harvey Harward. Ina and Harvey did not have children, but raised Guy's children: Lovina and T.J. For more on Ina click here

LEAH "LELA" LOVINA was born April 8, 1879 in Butler Co. Iowa, and died in 1960 at Bayard, Morrill Co. Iowa of cancer. Lela married Ed Gatch. Their children were: Elsie, Esther, Verle, Corie Mae, Neil, Roy, and Rex. For more on Lela click here

MILLIE ROZETTA was born April 17, 1881 in Butler Co. Iowa and died February 11, 1975 in Bayard, Morrill Co. Iowa of "old age." Millie married Ruben Henry Davis on February 4, 1903 in Bayard, NE. Reuben was born April 7, 1876 in Parke Co., Indiana and died November 27, 1936 in Bayard, Nebraska. Their children were: Avis, Avin, Ina, Thomas, Ward, Mable and Norman. ALVA "ALVIE" OWENS WILLIAMS was born March 9, 1884 in Bristoe , Iowa near Waterloo and died November 1, 1985 in Californ ia. Alva married Myrtle Belle Nickens on October 29, 1905 in Tennessee. Myrtle Belle Nickens was born May 25, 1888 in Huntington, Carroll Co. Tenneessee, and died April 25, 1977 in Gravette, Arkansas. Alvie and Myrtle had nine children: Oscar, Ester, Harvey, Lela, Ray (Bill), Nelse (Hickey), Neda, Alice and Eldon.

ROLLAND CLIFFORD was born January 10, 1888 in Scottsbluff Co. Nebraska and died June 2, 1972 in Emmett, Idaho. Roland was a barber. He married Florence Clure Parker and they had three children: Clifford, Virginia, and Rodney.

GUY VERNON was born May 7, 1892 in Scottsbluff Co., Nebraska and died in 1918 at Bayard, NE. Guy was a barber. Guy married Winnie Hood and they had three children: Lovina, TJ and Wilma. Guy and Winnie died the same year leaving the children orphaned. After Guy died, Ina took the children to raise.
