Wahiawa Town: 100 Years Proud

The year 1998 marks the Centennial Celebration of Wahiawa Town, a picturesque community on the central plain of Oahu and some 20 miles from downtown Honolulu. There, in 1898, shortly after the Hawaiian Islands were annexed by the United States, thirteen homesteaders—mainly from California—settled the raw land and began building the community which lives today.

OUR PLEDGE

We the people of Wahiawa are proud of our community's heritage and proclaim this mission statement for our
1998 Centennial Celebration.

1. To bring our Community together in celebration.
2. To educate our youth and the general public of our rich history.
3. To initiate "home style pride" and a strong
"sense of place".
4. To increase economic activity for our merchants by attracting locals and visitors to our town.
5. To promote good will and the aloha spirit.
