Morgan in July

31-July-00 I can't believe it's almost August, where did the summer go? Morgan loves to talk in the microphone. Here are two samples. Morgan talking and more of Morgan talking. She also thinks she can play video games with dad and play the guitar with him. A picture with Mom! |
She tells Dad bye-bye when he goes to bed and knocks on the door when he closes it behind him. She's still a night owl. We went the ocean over the weekend and she loved to play in the sand. I used almost an entire roll of film trying to get some good shots.

This was just too funny to keep to myself. Morgan loves to play in the trash, don't ask why. She must watch Mommy throwing stuff away and she thinks she's big people, so she imitates me. I went to take out the trash, pulled out the bag out of the wastebasket, set it on the ground and it started playing music. Frere Jacques, I think. Aparently, Morgan threw away her musical dalmation! I saved the toy, but I hope others haven't been lost in this fashion. I'd better find the VCR remoter before I take the trash out...
She was also running around outside chasing a cat! The same cat that made her scream bloody murder mere months ago. She'd stop and kiss the air in the cat's direction. She even waved at him, but he kept his distance. No fear.

Morgan is such a little climber. Her favorite thing to climb is the chair on wheels in front of Dad's computer so she can play with the mouse. She has her own mouse in her toy box, but I guess it's not attached to a computer. Her toy phone (and the real one!) are her other favorite toys, she even fell asleep hugging her play phone.
Caught!!! | Ha Ha! |
Dad'll teach her! |
Although she loves books, she can hardly sit still for an entire story. She'd rather pretend to read them herself. When she does let us read to her, she stops us, takes over half way through, pointing at all the pictures and talking in her own language.
Dancing is another favorite for Morgan. Mostly when we are out of the room and there's hip-hop music. (Thanks, Michele & Derek!) We catch her bopping and shaking her little bootie (it's soo cute!) when we peek around the corner.
Her new pictures (coming soon) will tell you that she is in love with hats. She'll wear them all day long. She has two and she wears Mom's two hats, too!
Morgan got quite the stroller ride tonight when Mom and Dad went rollerblading at the elementary school nearby! She absolutely loved it though.
20-July-00
Morgan got to visit with all the grandparents, then came home to see Dad! She sure missed him after a few days being away. Besides her "no" headshake, she's started to nod "yes" to things.
The other day she even turned down a cookie! She's never turned down a piece of fruit and she's known to eat an entire piece of fruit in one sitting!

Today we went to the space needle in Seattle with Ulibee. Morgan loved it. Sat on the railing and looked out the glass at the city. She also stood on her tippy-toes on the window edge so she could look out better. I swear she would have climbed out, given the chance. We went to Uli's favorite The Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch. It was Morgan's first spaghetti, but I think she got more on me than herself!
Morgan was so friendly in the restaurant, she even insisted on hugging and kissing an 18-month-old little boy at the next table. He was a cutie, so she's got taste. When she ran up to another table of people with her "scary monster" voice, they laughed and a woman said, "I just love little boys!" To which I replied, "Too bad she's a girl, then." Not my finest hour, but I was chocolate- and spaghetti-covered, going on little sleep... I usually let people think she's a boy or politely correct them.
Uli still has the roll of film, so it'll be a while before I get the pictures.
We stayed with Jessica and Jerry, who have a dog, two rats and two mice. At first Morgan was afraid of the Dog, Jasmine, then she chilled out and was laughing hysterically at Uli's rat Nibbles, who had come to visit.

Morgan is still turning my computer on and off at will, no wonder it's a mess now. She's tall enough now to reach the once unattainable vcr. I leave the room and she's watching a movie. Today, I don't know what she had in mind, but she took her foot rest from her little chair and carried it around the living room nonchalantly. When she thought no one was watching, she went into the bathroom. Crazy kid.
She gives kisses, especially after doing something wrong. Her reaction is smacking her lips and putting out her arms for a hug. Today she was really imitating everything we said to her!
04-July -00
We went out for breakfast with David and Jeanette before taking off for home. We talked about meeting in August to go camping, which I love to do. Then we drove and drove and stopped a few times. I slept the first two hours and the last hour and a half. When I woke up at a gas station, Mama asked how I was doing. "I'm fine." was my reply, much to Mama's surprise. Today I also said "Yeah", "Okay" and "Cool."
When got home, all my toys were still there, but I decided to climb on the glass coffee table and bang it with my plastic chair. Neither Mama nor Dada were impressed, I don't think there will be a coffee table there tomorrow when I wake up, that is if I ever go to sleep! Almost 1 am and I'm awake and kickin. Mama just loves it...
03-July-00
It was silly that people who work had July 3rd and 4th off, but no towns had any fireworks on the 3rd, they still waited for the fourth. Most people were on the road going back home if they had traveled, like us! What to do, what to do? Make your own fireworks show.
Fortunately, the fireworks laws let you buy really neat ones where we were. So Dada and Murph lit off fireworks. I laughed and had such a good time. We were at a high school parking lot, so there were other people with fireworks there, too. Dada lit some too close to the car and they didn't go up high enough. The buzzing bees after the blast almost hit me, Mama and Winnie! Mama was screaming and running around with me in her arms.
Mama calls me fearless because I climb on everything, go up to strangers and laugh when she says "NO!" in a stern voice. I wasn't scared by the fireworks and I'm hardly afraid of dogs and cats anymore. I saw Max, Jeanette and David's dog. He was trying to herd me even though they kept telling him I was a baby, not a sheep. He just made me laugh, he even tickled my tummy with his nose!

Mama, Dada, Murph and Winnie and I all went to a beach on a river swimming. I love to swim in the pool at our apartment, but this was different. In the pool, I'm starting to kick my legs to get where I want to go. In the river right next to the beach, I could touch the bottom, but it wasn't hard cement stuff, it was sand! I also ran around the beach.
We went to see Mikayla and Jen and Melissa for dinner. I had a tofu hot dog, just like Mama and some potato salad. I even drank milk from a sippy cup without any help. I think the handles really help. Mama has been trying to get me to drink out of them for a while; she said something about getting ones with handles.
I stayed with my very first teenage babysitter, Sara. She was nice and I was good for her. I went to sleep and so did she!
01-July-00
Mama, Dada and I took a long trip to visit friends. We
stopped in to see Jon, he just got a new house! We saw
his parents, too. They had only seen me as Mama's
wombmate, so they were surprised. Jon's Mom and Dad said
they heard me say "Look what I found."
This is at The
Daily Grind in downtown Pullman.
I also hung out with Winnie, who I loved instantly. I asked her several times "Whatca doin?" and I thanked her when she gave me treats.
I went to a park and I ran around. I was eating a McNugget (nummy, nummy, nummy as I like to say when food is good!) and running down a hill. When I fell face first and my feet almost flew over my head, I held up my McNugget. I took a bite to make sure I still had it, then I got and finished running down the hill.
I finally got to go on the slide by myself, there was a small slide and both Mama and Dada were there to let go and catch me! There were no baby swings, but Dada took me on the merry-go-round. To top off the day we went for ice cream at Dairy Queen. Nummy, Nummy.
NOTE: The new pictures might take a while because I have two rolls to develop and I have to re-install the software to use the scanner.
