Morgan's Feats and Photos

March and April and May

26-May-00

I went to the Doctor's today. The nurse said I weighed 23.5 lbs and that I was 29 inches tall! She didn't measure my head this time. The doctor said I was a good patient, then the nurse stuck me four times!! I didn't cry for the first one at all. The second one I cried a little. The third one made me scream, my face was beet red and Mama wouldn't let me stop the lady! The last was just made me mad. After I was fine. I'm a little fussy, but still in the mood to play!

I was kicking my beach ball around the house, until that scary red thing started making noise and stealing my crackers that I left on the floor. It was scary! Then it stood in the hallway, trapping me. I couldn't go to the other room to find Mama until she rescued me.

Mama just found another tooth on top! Then she realized that I had a new tooth on bottom, too. She wasn't even looking there, it was sneaky. That makes six, all the better to chew my toes with.

I also like to pop up the menu on the tv. It's in French, now, I'm trying to help Dada learn French. My most favorite thing is talking on the phone. Typing on the keyboard is a close second! Dada likes to take me out back and look at the little birdies. I prefer to play in the bathroom, especially with the bandaids. One day Dada took them away from me, even after I told him they were "for Mama!" I like boos (books), but I can't sit still long enough to listen to a whole one, maybe someday... My favorite toy is still a ball.

Today we drove to Tacoma to surprise Grandpa & Grandma Carol. I had fun with them, cuddling and playing keep away. They had two scary cats. They didn't say much, but then one jumped down from the window sill and I screamed so loud! They decided to leave me alone.

Then we went to the other Grandmas' house and they had three scary cats. I didn't scream too loudly at them. My friend Lynn was there, too. She thought I was funny, so I stuck my tongue out at Grandma Vicki and her. They had so many cool toys on their coffee table, but I wasn't allowed to play with them :( I had fun anyway.

16-May-00

Today was Dada's birthday. Mama made a cake. I helped her rub the egg all over the floor after she accidentally dropped it. Then I help her get the cake out to the guitar shaped pan onto the floor. It was in the perfect place, I thought, but Mama didn't agree. Dada turned 30, so we got him a balloon. It was very fun to play with.

Today I invented a cool game. I put Mama's skirt over my head so it covers my entire body, even my whole face, then I walk around. Mama thinks I look like a colorful little ghost. I also put everything I can around my shoulders, like a shawl.

Well, it was Mom's day, but I think I still got more attention. Dada did the cooking and cleaning, making my bottles and changing my diaper. Mom discovered the present I had for her, a new tooth. That makes two top teeth and a total of four. My bite is vicious now, poor Mama.

Mama says I grew about an inch in the last week since my clothes don't fit so well anymore. That's okay I prefer to run around naked, I try it every time Dada or Mama takes off my diaper. It's soo funny when they chase me around with a new diaper.

My great grandma was here for a visit. I told her I was "grandma's baby" cuz she spoiled me. Then we went to Pullman for Mama and Dada's graduation. Grandma Ruth and Grandma Vicki were there, too. I would have been completely spoiled if Grandpa Ron and Grandma Carol had been there. Unfortunately they couldn't make it, but they sure tried! Dada's still in school, but he dressed up cool and I watched him get a diploma cover anyway.

Mama is finished, so she has more time to play with me until she has to get a dumb job. I think she said she needed one by yesterday. She's thinks I'm so big now, but I'm still a little baby. I'll just humor her nostalgia with pictures of me when I was smaller. There are more (newly scanned) pictures down at the bottom of the page, too. Here's us playing basketball back in February:

Here's us back in December. She really wanted me to walk, then. Now she regrets that I do it so well. I haven't crawled in weeks! The view is much better higher:

Guess what?!? My first top tooth is peeking through! I bet by tommorrow it'll be out and my nose will stop running so much. I'll feel much better, unless more are on the way shortly. This one took three weeks of teething, jeez, I need a break! Three teeth, that's pretty good. My newest sound is a cross between a yoddle and singing "la-la-la." Dada thinks it's pretty funny. I pretty mess with everthing within my reach nowadays. Mama is so busy just chasing me around, but she did find some time (I think at 3 a.m.) to scan some of my pictures from Christmas and Easter.

24-April-00

We went to Pullman for a couple weeks to visit friends and so Mom could finish her project and thus her degree!! I'm so proud of my Mommy, I clapped for her when she finished. I missed DaDe a lot. He talked to me on the phone sometimes, I even picked up the phone a couple times when I wanted to talk to him, but it just made a funny sound.

At least I mastered the walking thing in Pullman. I can even walk sideways and go in a circle. I can squat like a frog, then stand up and walk away, then squat at a new spot. I used to get into everything, like the file cabinet and kitchen cupboards, now I'm a pro at unfiling and refiling paperwork. I can take stuff out of the kitchen cupboards, but I don't put them back. Why would I? After all that work.

I still try to eat the batteries out of the VCR remote. Those remotes are fun! When Mama and Dade are watching TV I like to turn the volume and the channel. Then I'm the center of attention.

Everyone makes a big deal about me saying Hi, Bye-Bye and DaDe and Mama. Dade thinks I say my own version of thank you. I can say ball, too, it's my favorite toy. I give kisses, mostly slobery ones on Mama's nose, she loves it! I love to dance, too. I hear the music and my body just starts boppin'. N'Sync has a cool song Bye-Bye, Baby Bye-Bye and I know all the words. Not to mention I can tap the ivory keys in beat!

Nap time is aobut 1 p.m. Sometimes I take two naps, one at 5 or 6, too. I really hate to sleep. Well, I'm getting fussy, so I'd better take a nap now. Bye-Bye.

We went to the new doctor today. In the waiting room there were two little boys kissing on Morgan and she was loving every minute of it. Cackling and eating up all the attention. She was so friendly to the doctor and put out her arms so the medical student would pick her up. Her weight, now 21 lbs 11 oz, and height 28.5 in is in the average percentile for her age. Her head circumference, on the other hand, is in the 90% percentile, meaning most of the babies her age have smaller heads. Big surprise, especially to those who have seen her Dada. The doctor asked a few questions about what she's doing and agreed she's advanced for her age. SUPER BABY lives!!!

27-March-00

Morgan took her first steps all by herself! She pushed up from the ground, stood and took two steps, then "sat" back down. Then she repeated her performance, finishing with her own applause. Super Baby!

So why aren't there more new pictures? I still have to develop two rolls and scan the seven or eight rolls I already have. Here's the one picture I have managed to scan lately. Such is the life of the mother of a 9-month old who's getting ready to walk.
