He was married in 1861 to Catharine Jane Blakely in Eastern Passage/Dartmouth. Some time between 1891 and 1901 Catharine died. He got married again this time to Emily Magdalene Stafford. They had two kids, up till 1901, Frank and Olive. Stephen and his family in 1901 are listed as belonging to the Church of England. Stephen died after 1922 as Eldon Drake recalls Stephen attending Ronald Drake's funeral in P.E.I.

They were married in Clam Harbour where they both were residing. They had four children according to the 1901 census: Laliah Mae or Lelia May, James Hollis, Bertha and John Alfred. John and Margaret are both buried at St. Mathews Anglican Church, Clam Harbour. John died of cancer of the face at the age of 86.

Both of them are listed as residing in Porters Passage at their time of marriage. They had five children according to the 1901 census: Lelina, Julia, Uda, Emma and Morris. Isabella and James are both buried at United Church of Clam Harbour cemetary.

Verna bas born in Nova Scotia. She married George Laybolt (abt 1854-1946). They had one son G. Frederick Laybolt. They are both buried at Clam Harbour United Church.
