During the Revolutionary War, Alexander was a Private in the Virginia line for six months. Later he was a spy in a Company commanded by Captain Craven in 1780. He guarded the fortress in Randolph Co., then Harrison Co. and was verbally discharged. Later he volunteered and served under Captain Fisher; was at Yorktown and assisted in guarding 700 Hessions at Winchester Barracks. He saw the surrender of Cornwallis. He was also under General Wayne in the Revolutionary War.

Another account states that in 1781 he was drafted and entered militia. Joined the army in Orange or Culpepper Co., served 2 mo. and went home. He was pensioned at $20 per annum in Indiana for his revolutionary war service.

From 1782 to 1784, Alexander lived on the west side of Looney Creek, Virginia. In 1784 they moved to Fayette Co., KY. In 1802 they moved to Montgomery county, Ohio and settled near Dayton which was then a small village containing but one shingled roof house.

From there, I'm not quite sure what happens with this Alexander. Apparently, he moves with his sons to Cass Co., Indiana since that is where he is said to have died. This Alexander would have been about age 65 when they moved to Cass Co., Indiana.
