Ann name was spelled Anty Lalor in the Abbeyleix baptismal register. It was Anestacie Lawler on her Blessington marriage record. Ann's baptismal sponsor in 1842 was Richard Langton. According to Irish Lalor researcher Bessie (Keenan) Brady, Richard Langton was an great-grand-uncle of Bessie's. He went to America later on after he, and others, had been tried and acquitted! on the charge of shooting a landlord's agent.

There is a Richard Langton (1825-1885) buried at St. John's cemetery in Arcadia, Carroll Co., Iowa (an area where several Lawlor relatives settled). Richard shares a gravestone with William and Margaret McCarthy their sons Edward and Lock and Edward's wife Marcella (Farrell) McCarthy. Bessie Brady also states the McCarthys were related to the Lawlor clan.

``Dick Langton'' also accompanied the Lawler family when they moved from Clinton Co., Iowa to Crawford County, Iowa about 1873.

There is a Clinton Co. marriage record of Ann Lawler to Thomas Quinn in 1858, but Ann is still listed with her parents in the 1860 census. According to the records of % Catherine Geraldine Fitzgerald, % Ann married a man named Blessington, which was proven by the Clinton Co. marriage record.

Ann may have had two more children who died as infants. Her 1910 census entry indicates she had three children total, one still living.

Ann's husband James R. Blessington was a son of John Blessington and Margaretta Riley. His identity is confirmed by the 1870 census which shows Ann and James with three of the children from James' first marriage and Ann's brother, Fenton in Marcy Twp, Boone Co., Iowa. The 1880 census also shows her relationship to that branch of the Blesssington family. Ann Blessington, a widow, is with her 3 year old son Albert, and Ed Kelin, servant, 23, and Thomas Blessington, age 23, born Iowa, also listed as a servant. Thomas fits the age of Ann's stepson, Thomas, a son of James R. Blessington by his first marriage. Philip Blessington is listed on the same census page, and Philip was James R's younger brother.
