According to a note in the cemetery index, Jerry served with the 338th Field Artillery. This would probably have been in WWI.

Jerry registered for the WWI draft while he was living in Webster City Iowa in 1918. On his application, he noted, ``On June 1, 1917 made application to join Supply Co. 2nd Iowa Inf at Webster City IA. I was notified to report. I did so report until June 11, 1917. I was rejected.''
