The Scott Gen. Quarterly says that John was born 1760 in Virginia,
married Mary there, and obtained the family home from his father's
estate and died there about 1803.
Vercoe's Scott history says John's ``plantation was on the east side
of Looney's creek.'' The excerpt's of Sylvester Scott's history
say John was born in 1758, died in 1836, and married Catherine.
I had him confused with his nephew John, the Christian Minister
for a long time because of one (mistaken?) excerpt from Sylvester's history.
I think this death date and place of 1836 in Indiana may also
be a result of someone confusing this John with his nephew John (1797-1866)
when constructing that history.
The Logansport Herald (Cass. Co) carried a death notice
of a John Scott in 1838.
