Her name is spelled variously as Ester (as in Thomas' will), Hestor, and Hester. Imagine pronouncing Hester with a thick English accent which drops the H's and you can easily see how the Ester spelling comes about.

Ester played her small part in the US Revolutionary War. Shown on Order Book 8, 1784-1786,page 157, Bedford County, VA: ``Ester Morgan, acct for provisions furnished to army p. 157. Ester Morgan pvd that she furnished Chris' Irvine's Co. Two hundred and fifty (250)lbs of beef in Nov. 1781.''

There is also a book entitled, ``Women Patriots of the American Revolution,'' a biographical dictionary by Charles E. Claghorn, The Scarecrow Press, Inc., Meluchen, NJ and London, 1991, p. 394 ``Morgan, Ester, Bedford Co., VA. The wife of Thomas Morgan, she performed a public service.'' (VR lists, 1-21) Microfilm: VA Rev. War Public Service Claims.

The will of her father, Samuel Taylor was dated Sept. 1760 in Frederick Co., VA. The will names daughter Susannah (unmarried)
Samuel Morgan, son of Thomas Morgan and Hester, his wife.
Rachel Taylor, loving wife
sons, Samuel Taylor and John Taylor
