This is NOT the same Nimrod Scott who married Maria Reger. That connection is mistakenly reported in the Scott Genealogical Quarterly. In 1998-2000, I received the following email which explains the confusion:

My name is Annette Carroll and I am descended from NIMROD SCOTT, b. 15 May 1819, VA./WV. I have been searching for his ancestors for a number of years and about 2 years ago, I thought I had found them. I purchased a book titled, The Genealogical History of the Scott Family, Desc. of Alexander Scott, compiled by Josephine McCord Vercoe. I was convinced after reading it that my NIMROD SCOTT was from that line and submitted the info to the Scott One Name Society (Craig Scott). I have since proved this info to be wrong and you can't imagine how badly I feel knowing that I submitted wrong material. I've contacted everyone I can think of to get this wrong info removed, but to no avail.

Since I submitted that info, I have found that Nimrod, the son of Joseph and Phoebe Scott was only 10 years old and listed with his widowed mother in Monongalia Co., WV in the 1850 census, while mine is listed in the same census in Ritchie Co., WV with his wife and family.
