There is actually no evidence to show that Susanna is a daughter of Joel Matthews. Her marriage was presided over by Thomas Hill. Susanna was suggested as a daughter of Joel by Richard Davis's LDS submissions, mostly since she was married in Pulaski county.

Another fact which supports placing Susanna in this family is that Susanna Sargeant witnessed the will of Joel's son Daniel Matthews in 1812. (Susanna would be too old to be Daniel's daughter.)

However, Pulaski Co. marriage bond records found on the WWW say that the bond for Stephen Sargent and show surety by John Williams and Consent by ``Dug Matthews, father.''
