Bentley Ballard is on the Warren Co. KY tax lists from 1800 through 1807, at least. He's involved in land transactions there as late as 1821.
Bentley received a grant for 200 acres on the Blackberry Grove waterway in Warren Co., Kentucky, surveyed 20 Sep 1806.
Bentley Ballard is in the 1830 census of Schuyler Co., IL. The Illinois marriage index shows several Ballard marriages in the 1830s and 1840s in Schuyler Co. who might be related: Sally Ballard and Britton Provo 8 Dec 1831, Mary Ballard and Hammilton Neighswonger 15 Jun 1833, Noah B. Ballard and Frances Massey 22 Nov 1836, and John Ballard and Catherine Strong 15 Nov 1849. The first three at least are very likely to be Bentley's children, I would guess.
The two sons I have here for Bentley, Jeremiah and Simeon, should be considered only probable sons. The association is based on the middle names of Jeremiah and of Simeon's son John, as well as their living in the same part of Missouri. But I don't have any real firm evidence for making them Bentley's sons. Additionally, Henderson and Leander Ballard, ages 12 and 10, who are listed with Jeremiah Bentley Ballard in the 1850 census are also possibly sons of Bentley.
