Seeing Sadie's story spurred the following memory by Alice (Morrison) Mahannah:
It was my recollection that his name was Dave, but you see I could have only been around five or six at the time. But I remember him well because he played with me and spent time with me. He discovered that I had a big warty wart underneath the nail of one of my big toes. It had grown so big it had the nail all deformed and it was starting to hurt. He told me how to cure it!! I was to go out each evening to the pump at the back of the house and stick my foot into the cold water which he pumped from the well, then wrap the toe up in a rag and, after six nights of this treatment, it would be gone. Six nights did not do it, but inside of two weeks that wart was gone and has never returned. He was sort of an eerie person and I guess he scared it away!!
