He's named Maurice with years 1899--1900 on the back of his parents' tombstone. Full name of James Maurice is from his Clinton County death certificate.

Two Shannon histories compiled by children of Thomas Lucien Shannon sometime in about the early 1970s, give slightly different variations on the death of LeRoy and Maurice. One states, ``LeRoy and Maurice died in a diptheria epidemic, Maurice, at seven months, on March 28, 1900, and LeRoy four years old, three days later. Walter also was very ill, and mother was unable to attend the funeral.'' The other similar history says, ``Maurice lived only a short time, and the day he was buried, in inclement weather, the other boys were put to bed in care of a baby sitter. Leroy partially dressed, got away and ran out in yard, became wet and chilled and died 3 days later.''
