James was a PFC in the Army Air Corp.
Prior to his induction he had been
engaged in farming with his brother William, near Delmar.
He was inducted on August 26, 1942 and
was reported missing while serving as a flight mechanic on a transport
plane in India and China.
He was first buried in an American cemetery at
Kumming, China next to a Brigadier General, but was later moved
to Punchbowl Cemetery in Honolulu.
There's a plaque in Jim's memory at the Delmar school and he
is remembered each Memorial Day.
