Jacob Plemmons

Jacob Plemmons was born February 16, 1798 in Burke Co., North Carolina, and died December 29, 1881 in Crandall, Murray Co. Georgia. He married Nancy Hipps 1815 in Buncombe Co., North Carolina, daughter of John Hipp and Judah Hicks. She was born 1796 in Newberry District, South Carolina, and died January 12, 1872 in Crandall, Murray Co. Georgia.

According to the 1830 census, Jacob is living in Macon County North Carolina, but he doesn't show up on the land records of Macon County until September 7, 1838 when he bought 128 acres on Commissioners Creek. He bought more land on this Creek on October 20, 1841. A deed is recorded to Jacob Plemons of Macon Co., NC for land in Gilmer Co., GA on November 21, 1846. It is by lottery number 53 in the 9th district.

According to the 1820 census Jacob is living in Buncombe County North Carolina. Living on one side is his brother Thomas and living on the other side is John Hipps. Could this be the father to Nancy?

Jacob is living in Gilmer County Georgia in 1850 and 1860. He moved to Murray County Georgia in the 1860's where he remained until he died. He and his wife were buried in Summerour Cemetery.
