Thomas Plemmons was born 1760 in Virginia, and died Aft. 1850 in Macon Co., North Carolina. He married Elizabeth Roberts 1778. She was born 1762 in Virginia, and died Bef. 1840 in Macon Co., North Carolina.

More research needs to be done on the ancestors of Thomas Plemmons. Other researchers say that Thomas' parents are Peter Plemmons and Elizabeth Murdock. Other researchers say that Thomas' father is Thomas Plemmons. No one has been able to present any documents to prove who the parents of Thomas Plemmons are and no one has been able to prove that Thomas Plemmons wifes maiden name was Elizabeth Roberts
According to the book of the Plemons family by Janet Webb Thomas served in the American Revolution as a private in Captain Francis Taylor's Company in the 2nd Virginia Battalion from January 28, 1777 to March 28, 1777. I sent off for the records using this information and was told that there was no record.
On July 12, 1802 Thomas sold his land near the Swannoa River to John Plemons. He moved to Buncombe Co., North Carolina in 1807. They were there as early as April 18, 1808 when they bought their church letters from Cain Creek Baptist Church and joined the Newfound Baptist Church. I believe that the Cain Creek Baptist Church was in Burke County North Carolina and that is the name of the Church they attended while there.
On January 14, 1809 Thomas and his wife Elizabeth and their daughter Marah were temporarily excomunicated from the Newfound Baptist Church because the church had thought that Marah had married her second husband while still married to her first husband.
Marah married a Mr. Sorton (first name unknown to me) eight days after meeting him. This was against her families advice. She soon discovered that he already had a living wife and didn't leave him quick enough. Very soon after she left her first husband she married Ahab Mullens.
On June 17, 1809 the church admitted them back as members of the church, having been convinced that Marah did no wrong. On February 16, 1811 Marah requested her church letter. It is believed that she and her husband moved.
Thomas went on to serve on several church committees until 1818. On November 9, 1830 Thomas and Elizabeth asked for their letters of dismission from the church and gave them back on March 19, 1831. Thomas and Elizabeth must have moved to Macon County when they asked for their letters from the church. The 1830 census shows them living in Macon County. Maybe they were living back and forth between Macon County and Buncombe County. It is possible that Elizabeth may have died in Buncombe County. Some people believe that she died in 1831. No records exsist that prove when she died. We do know that she died by 1840. Thomas was listed in the 1840 census living in the household of his son Jacob Plemons. There was no female of Elizabeth's age living there at this time. It is believed that Thomas died after 1850. No records exsist showing his death. Jacob is living in Gilmer County GA in 1850.

2. Thomas Plemmons, born 1784 in Granville Co., North Carolina; died 1855 in Haywood Co., North Carolina. He married Mary Parton 1811 in Buncombe Co., North Carolina; born 1784; died 1853 in Haywood Co., North Carolina.
3. Marrah 'Polly' Plemmons, born 1786 in Granville Co., North Carolina. She married Ahab Mullens January 1808 in Buncombe Co., North Carolina.
4. Elizabeth Plemmons, born 1789 in Burke Co., North Carolina.
Notes for Elizabeth Plemmons:
It is possible that her name could be Margaret Elizabeth Plemons. The church records show that Thomas and Elizabeth had a daughter by the name of Margaret, but do not show an Elizabeth. I do not know how I got the name Elizabeth. The church records also list Rachel, Peity and Jane as daughters of Thomas and Elizabeth.

10. William B. Plemmons, born October 08, 1807 in Buncombe Co., North Carolina; died January 10, 1896 in Boardtown Georgia. He married Elizabeth 1829 in Buncombe Co., North Carolina; born February 20, 1797 in Tennessee; died August 08, 1888 in Boardtown Georgia.
