Puffkin Ponderings!

July 23, 1999 Mystic the Wizard and Danny the Purple Dinosaur retired without warning! With each Puffkin retailer only receiving 8 Mystic Puffkins - no matter how many they ordered - Mystic has become one of the "hottest" Puffkins to date. He was just released on June14, 1999. Secondary prices are already at least triple of retail and it's likely he'll be more scarce than Armour. And, just like Armour's fur variation making true collectors want one of each, Mystic's two colors will have serious collectors clamoring to get one in silver and one in gold.
Danny was just released in May of 1999 with Freddy the Tree Frog, Patriot the Eagle (now retired too) and Scooter the Chipmunk.  Danny's keychain retired along with him (no magnet was made for Danny) and since not every Puffkin retailer carries the keychains, Danny could become a very collectible keychain.

First Generation Tagged Puffkins have risen in value quite a bit lately as more and more collectors are becoming serious about their collections. Only 19 Puffkins were produced with the first generation tags. Just because a tag is dark purple does not make it a first generation tag!  True first generation tags all had the exact same UPC code (44046-01362).  These tags were only on Puffkins released from the inception - May of 1997 through August of 1997. After that the dark purple tags were changed to have unique UPC codes so retailers could keep better inventory of which styles were selling. Dark Purple tags with unique UPC codes are considered 2nd generation tags and of course now we have the lavender (higher quality) tags of the third generation.  Really observant Puffkin collectors will notice that there is now a 4th generation tag - Puffkin names now have the "tm" next to them for trade mark purposes.

Christmas 1999 Limited Editions are being manufactured and getting ready for a (one-time only!) fall release! Last year's 3 Christmas Puffkins added lots of fun to the Christmas season. This year we're treated to four styles! You'll find this set of four includes:

Mooseltoe the Moose - (12/25/99 Birthday)
"Dashing through the fine white snow,
call out his name, "Mooseltoe!"
Like the beautiful mistletoe that grows,
it's hard to miss a moose with a bright red nose."

Jangles the Red Bear
- (12/25/99 Birthday)
"Like St. Nick and toys, the partridge and the pear,
you and Jangles make a heartwarming pair.
He's cuddly and kind, hold him close and tight
and whisper your wishes to him every night."
Elvin the Elf
- (12/25/99 Birthday)
"With cute pointy ears and a jingle-jangle hat,
whether buiding a dollhouse or carving a baseball bat,
Elvin has a special job, such an important part
- he puts a sparkle in every child's heart!"

Spice the Gingerbread Man - (12/25/99 Birthday)
"Spice spreads holiday cheer like icing
with his warm gingerbread scent so inticing.
Tickle his toes and he'll giggle with glee.
Nibble his nose and he'll laugh merrily.
"
