Happy 6th Birthday Jellybean!
It's hard
to believe that our little Shih Tzu, Jellybean, was 6 years old on September
9, 2001!
She was
a petshop throw-away and if it wasn't for our kind vet, Dr. Shirley, Jellybean
might not even be here today! What a terrible thought that is!
I remember when my vet first spoke to me about adopting Jellybean.
Because of her severe handicap (her bad knees), she said that it was a terrible thing she was asking me to do, (to adopt her), and that
there weren't
many people she knew that she would allow to take a dog in this condition,
because she had no idea what to expect. She said that we may even have
to put her down in six months, but that she would rather see the dog have
a happy life in a good home for six months than nothing at all. Well,
it has been a lot longer than six months, of course, and our family and
Jellybean have mutually benefited from being together. We share a
lot of love between us. We are so glad our vet asked us to adopt
Jellybean. She is just a little darling and we love her so much.
Jellybean
is my own personal little 'Beanie Baby'! She is the most loving and
affectionate little dog - if you are within reach of her little pink tongue,
then you will definitely be kissed! and kissed! and kissed!
and kissed!!!
Well, you
can't have a birthday celebration without a birthday cake, so her you go,
'Beaners!
Actually,
my daughter is the cake fiend in our family. For Jellybean, we will
go shopping for some treats. The Woof-muffins love those Nylabone
edible bones. It's good for their teeth, too. I will also get
a treat for Sweetcakes - we wouldn't want her to feel left out! When
it comes to tummy-yummins, neither of my Woof-muffins really likes to share
- who could blame them?!!
Here is a
picture of Jellybean with a toy and Sweetcakes coming up to sniff it.
You can tell by the look on Jellybean's face that she is thinking,
'Don't
even THINK about touching MY toy!'
"DON'T TOUCH!!!"
says Jellybean
Sweetcakes
usually just walks away thinking, 'I didn't want that old thing anyway!
hmpf!' They get along very well and are 'partners-in-crime'!
Jellybean
has the cutest little thing she does. We have chair pads on our kitchen
chairs that tie onto the chair on each side in a bow and the tails of the
bow hang down a little. When the two of them are rough-necking it
in the kitchen, Jellybean goes over to the tail of the bow and pulls it
to untie the bow. She only does this when we are not looking.
(We have caught her once or twice, that's how we know that she is the one
that does it.) She does not chew on it, she just unties it to be
a little stinker!
Hey, 'Beaners!
How do you like these clowns we got for your birthday party?
Here
is a picture of Jellybean when she was a puppy. She was 7 months
old in this picture and she weighed only 3-1/2 pounds!
Here is a picture of Jellybean that my daughter drew. Great job!
Here are
some photos I took at the party.
'Yum!
The birthday cake Mommy made for me for my birthday is
good!
It was a yellow cake - no chocolate for doggies!'
(Chocolate
is toxic for doggies!)
'We got Nylabone
Edible bacon bones because it was my birthday!
We got some
other delicious treats, too! I love my birthday!'
Sweetcakes
LOVES her bone, too!
Well, we
hope you enjoyed sharing in our party with us. We certainly enjoyed
having you!
Jellybean
gets to wear the crown because it's her
birthday!
The
Woof-muffins get very disappointed
if you don't
sign their guestbook!
