Happy 7th Birthday
Sweetcakes!
November 2, 2000
Our lovable little Pekingese, Sweetcakes, is 7 years old!  Time flies by so quickly!  Sweetcakes is just a little darling of a dog - she has her own unique personality.  She is definitely an A#1 watchdog.  Upon hearing any strange sound, anyone outside of our door, the doorbell, etc., she is there barking frantically to let whomever or whatever know that she is there to protect her hoomins and her home!  Now look at this fierce-looking, scary face - isn't it enough to scare any burglar away? HeHeHe!!!
Sweetcakes is a parti-color Pekingese and is very pretty.  Parti-color means that she is mostly white with colored patches on her body, but any patches on her back must be broken.  She has a number of different expressions and cocks her head at different words we say, like bye-byes, Grandmom, or boog (another word for bug).  Sweetcakes is the resident bug catcher (and eater! yuck!).  As soon as she sees us coming over to her to get the bug out of her mouth, she crunches and swallows before we have a chance to do so.  I guess she just has a taste for exotic food.
Although Sweetcakes has hip dysplasia, she can still run around with her sidekick, Jellybean, at about 70 miles per hour!  I guess that's pretty good for 7 years old.  I don't know if they still go by the rule that for every year of a dog's life, it is 7 years of a human life.  If so, that would make her 49 years old.  We just hope that she stays healthy and strong and does not develop any problems with arthritis or walking as she ages.

Here are a few pics of Sweetcakes that we have acquired over the years, from puppyhood up to the present.

She loves attention!

It doesn't seem to matter to her
that the Frisbee is almost as big as she is!

Now where are my sunglasses?!

Well, thanks for visiting and sharing in Sweetcakes' birthday
celebration.  We hope you enjoyed your stay!
