This comparison of EMDR with Mesmerism by Dr. Richard McNally from Harvard University elicited a response from what I term the number 2 man in the field of EMDR, Dr. Ricky Greenwald.

Gerald Rosen, PhD of Seattle contributed an article to the Journal of Anxiety Disorders that is a representative classic read on the higher criticism pertaining to EMDR.
Please be sure to read this Update on Empirically Validated Therapies, II. On page 7, you'll find that EMDR is listed as "probably efficacious" for civilian Post Traumatic Stress Disorder by the members of the Task Force on Psychological Interventions. Their lowest rating.
