*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Our guild newsletterPlease give the page a moment or two to load as the files are approx 330kb in .pdf format, especially if you have a dial-up connection and not high-speed. If the page comes up blank, please hit reload or refresh, that seems to help for some reason. Here is another suggestion that I tried on a different computer than mine. After you click on the link and the page opens, even if it comes up with a white screen, go to File on the tool bar across the top and choose Save as and when the window pops up it should say jan03.pdf as the file name. Save it to a folder on your hard drive so you can find it again, and try opening it through adobe acrobat and see what happens. You can find it again through Find Files on the Start menu. Hints for using Adobe Acrobat ReaderA few people were saying that they were getting a blank screen come up when they tried to view the newsletter in adobe. I went online with a dial-up modem and checked it out in netscape, and then in internet explorer. It worked fine in netscape, but not in IE. I had to go into the preferences/options in Adobe and check off the settings under viewing within a web browser. It still acted up so I re-installed Adobe and things worked fine after that. All some people had to do was hit Reload or Refresh when the blank screen came up and the page loaded almost immediately. Sometimes it works better if you choose SAve as and save the file to your computer and open it up from there. When viewing anything online or offline with Adobe Acrobat reader, it gives you a toolbar across the top and one across the bottom. There are a couple of ways to adjust the text for viewing. The lower toolbar should have a button with a % sign, usually showing at 100%. Click on that button and from the popup, choose either a larger or smaller percentage. On the top toolbar, there should be a magnifying glass or two that have a + sign and a - sign in them. These will adjust the text size when you select it and then click on the open message. There are also a couple of buttons that show a page with a folded corner. One makes the page show at 100%, one makes the page fit full length in the window, and the third makes the text fit full width in the window. Once you have selected the text size to suit you, there is a button on the top toolbar with a little hand on it. Click on it and then in the message window, and you can slide the page around to suit what you want to read at the time. On the lower toolbar you will see a button that shows what page you are on such as page 1 of 12. You can click on the arrows on either side to go a page ahead or go back a page. Another neat thing with Adobe, is clicking on the second button from the left on the top toolbar, and this should open up a bookmarks menu, much like an index, and you can scroll through to find specific articles. When you find the one you want, click on it and that page will come into view. Adobe reader can be fun.
