DAY ONE
- Sunday, 6/28/98
Check
in, find your room, meet your roommate (Do you snore? Man, I've heard
that I'm terrible!), settle in. What time's supper? Where IS
supper? Orientation. Think we'll have to write any papers?
Where's the Board Room? Rats! I knew there would be something
I forgot! We're supposed to sleep on THAT thing? I've slept
on softer rocks! What time do we have to be in Home Room? Man,
I never got up THAT early for anything!
DAY TWO
- Monday, 6/29/98
How many
more forms do we have to fill out? How long is this line for uniforms?
Is there any thermostat on the air conditioning? Any extra blankets
around here? Man, I have walked 50 miles today. Where the heck
is the gym? How about the computer lab? How do I get back to
my room? You want to do WHAT? Go RUNNING? Now?
It's almost 8PM! I'll die with the humidity! Who's an animal?
I couldn't do a mile!
DAY THREE
- Tuesday, 6/30/98
Forensic
Science, Effective Communication, Lunch, Legal Issues, Analytical Aspects
of Criminal and Community Behavior. Full day getting class schedules.
Nope, no run tonight. Let me get my class binders in order.
Spent too much time in the computer lab. I see the Orioles lost,
AGAIN. Yeah, Mariners, too.
DAY FOUR
- Wednesday, 7/1/98
Up at
0515 to take a run. Beautiful morning, no clouds, low humidity.
Did better than Monday. Still a LONG way to go. No class until
1000, then first PT class. All classroom. You're going to measure
WHAT? My body fat? I have none! The PT Challenge?
Start off with 1.8 miles the 2nd week and wind up with the Yellow Brick
Road, 6+ miles? And an obstacle course mixed in after running 4 of
the 6 miles? What, are you NUTS? And it's not mandatory?
Why would ANYONE want to subject themself to that? Sure, I'll try.
I know, we need to "challenge" ourselves. Planning and Budgets -
How much money do I have to spend and what's the name of the police department?
Budgetville? Where is that? Steak in the cafeteria, not bad.
Plan on getting up and running again at 0530 Thursday. There is something
beneficial to all this PT. Right?
DAY FIVE
- Thursday, 7/2/98
Up at
0515 for another run. Did most of the 2.5 miles. Hills are
still a burden and had to walk about 1/4 mile. Settling into the
classes. No major papers to write. A couple of group papers
to complete for Forensics and the Behavioral Science class and some speeches
to do for Effective Communication. We're in good shape in that manner.
Weigh in and other physical "needs" before we start all out class PT.
Weight was pretty much what was expected. This "body fat" thing can't
be right. Take that much off my body and I'd be a toothpick!!
If I'm wearing pants 2-3 inches smaller, how can your waist measurement
be right? BP is good, at least. Can't wait for 5PM. Okay
Mark, let's hit the road! Home at 8PM. Man, sleeping my own
bed feels great! Look at the clothes I have to wash. Can't
wait to see the boy in the morning.
