Week #5
July 27 - 31
It isn't for everyone and not just anyone is selected.  It has taken twelve years to finally be accepted and attend, but I'm proud to say, "Here I am."

Saturday, 7/25/98 and Sunday, 7/26/98
Went to York, PA for a surprise 25th Anniversary Party Saturday.  Yes, they were surprised!  Back home around 6PM.  Time to do all the laundry.  House is a mess.  Need to do some serious cleaning.  Only have a couple weeks before Parents make it back here for Graduation.  Up on Sunday morning, read the paper and then go work on the Blazer.  New headlight and fix the headliner that was falling down.  Leave for Quantico around 6:15PM.  Don't know what I ate, but it sure didn't agree with my gut.

Monday, 7/27/98
Didn't sleep worth a hoot last night.  Gut was really working me over, also had an achy feeling.  That's all I need, the flu!  Made it through classes today, but I don't know how.  Popped a couple Advil around 1PM, got to feeling somewhat better.  Still a little tender in lower stomach.  Oh, great!  PT in the morning!  Section 4 (my section) went out to dinner tonight as a group.  Classes canceled for 3PM tomorrow so we can go to the Capital and pay our respects to our fallen brethren.  Knocked out a quiz in Budget, we'll get it Wednesday.  Midterms coming up this week.  Some things are going to be a little late.

Tuesday, 7/28/98
PT first thing this morning.  Still not 100% from yesterday, although feeling A LOT better.  Went for one of dreaded "you run till I blow my whistle then you turn around and run back" deals.  Yeah, right!  Next to last Deadly Force class today.  Non-credit course, so NO test.  Lunch, Forensics (hairs and fibers, Oh, my!) then the trip to the Capital.  Stood in line with all the other Law Enforcement Officers, paid our respects and signed the book.  Unfortunately, witnessed one of the widows being "stalked" by a couple members of the overseas media.  No couth.  Anything to get the story or interview.  No wonder people don't much care for the news crews.  Stick a camera and microphone in your face in one of the worst hours of your life and expect you to be nice.  Capital Police handled it very well.  Pretty much just stood in front of the reporter and camera and wouldn't let them get a shot.  Back to Quantico in time for that delicious meal the Marriott Corp spends ssooooooo much time fixing!  After supper, homework!

Wednesday, 7/29/98
Middle of the week.  Must have gone over my speech for Eff Comm 100 times in my sleep.  Still not satisfied with it, but, what the hey.  Blew quiz in Budget (what the heck.  Only 5% of grade), Legal is a scream, lunch was.......lunch.  2 hours off and then THE moment of truth.  1st up, got the Power Point thing going on, yeah looking sharp in the suit.  Okay, SHOW TIME!  Thought did real well.  David E had problems with his Power Point, man what a bummer.  Ah, Igor!  What a comedian!  Got the tape, I'll look at it later.  Dinner was the Wednesday Night Special.  A 6oz piece of beef, passed off as a steak.  Someone needs to show them what a REAL steak looks like.  Forensics group meeting.  Sat in Library and went over tape from Eff Comm with instructor's comments.  Thank you, Mr. Vance.  I shall do my best to enunciate a little better.  Down to CBT and scan more papers for Forensics presentation 8/21.  Now it's time to relax and answer some email!

Thursday, 7/30/98
Fairly light day today.  Nothing until 10AM when we had a Session meeting and elected our Session Rep, the person that will be addressing friends and family at Graduation.  After the meeting, the Merry-Go-Round.  Run the track, stop at one of the stations and do dips and/or pull-ups, stop at the mats and do crunches and push-ups.  We did at our own pace and however many we wanted for 20 minutes.  Lunch, then a quick review for Forensics.  Mid-term on Monday.  Got out of there with about 1 1/2 hrs free time.  Last bit of Deadly Force was from 3-4, then start Chemical Agents from 4-5PM.  No time for dinner, had two softball games.  Trying to do something I haven't done for years.  Then dinner in the BoardRoom and an iced mocha at Gargoyles.  A chance to sit around and do a little mid-term review for Abnormal Behavior tomorrow afternoon.

Friday, 7/31/98
Friday.  Finally!  PT first thing.  Classroom and a short run (in the light rain).  Grunge Boys felt at home running in the precipitation.  Civil Rights class after PT.  Main Point?  If the G-Men come knocking, get your lawyer. Got grade from Effective Comm.  Yes, I am satisfied.  Roomy and I did the Abnormal Behavior mid-term and out of there in 20 minutes.  Waited for the other Grunge boy to get out of his last class.  Out of here by 4:30PM and in Cumberland around 8PM.  Went straight to Rocky Gap Country Music Festival and checked out the happenings.  Long day, but kinda relaxing.
