What God has
Promised
God has not promised skies always blue, flower-strewn
Pathways all our lives through.
God has not promised sun without rain, joy without
sorrow, peace without pain.
But God has promised strength for the day, rest for
the laborer, light on the way, grace for the trial,
help from above, unfailing sympathy, undying Love.

Books
I have a 'library' full of books and as I
read them, if I like them I will add a link here:
Bibles
The Inspirational Study Bible,
General Editor-Max Lucado - This bible is great for
devotionals, and reading through and understanding
the Bible. Each day there is a Life Lesson which
includes a section of passages to read, explains the
Situation, gives some Observations, has an
Inspirational devotion reading, gives some
Applications, and then Exploration passages to read
further on the subject.
NIV Study Bible - This is a great
study bible. It has given me more understanding and
insight into the scriptures. It is a great help/tool.
Max Lucado
Max Lucado is my favorite non-fiction Christian
author. His
writing touches you, and draws you in. Really brings
truths
to light, and makes them easy to understand. I highly
recommend his writings. Most books have a study guide
in
the back.
A Gentle Thunder "With pictures and
parables
from everyday life, Max Lucado, calls us to trust in
tough
times. God's goal, Max reminds, is to get us home
safely.
He'll do whatever it takes to save his children.
God's
thunder is gentle. And his gentleness never ends."
And The Angels Were Silent This book
deals with
the final week of Jesus
God Came Near - "Max Lucado reminds us
that
Jesus was no run-of-the-mill Messiah. His was the
most
remarkable life to ever stir the dust of humanity"
This
book helps you to really see Jesus.
He Still Moves Stones - This book reminds
us
that the God who spoke still speaks, who forgave
still
forgives. He can do what we can't, and He is there
when we
are hurting.
In The Eye of the Storm - A day in the
life of
Jesus, the second most stressful day of His life. Max
Lucado shows us how Jesus deals with those stresses.
An
excellent book if you are feeling stressed out!
In the Grip of Grace - an excellent book
and
study on the book of Romans
No Wonder They Call Him the Savior - a
study on
the Cross
On the Anvil - short stories great for use
a
devotional, showing how God can shape us
Six Hours One Friday - "Once again Max
Lucado
takes us to the foot of the cross where we find hope
for
life's tough issues."
The Applause of Heaven - Max Lucado takes
us on
an encounter with the Source of Joy. Shows us there
is a
joy that circumstance cannot quench, and a peace
which
cannot be taken away from us.
When God Whispers Your Name - Max Lucado
shows
us how God helps us to overcome our doubts, sorrow
and
despair to hope again.
The Great House of God - A study on
the Lord's Prayer
Fiction
The Cheney Duvall, M.D. series by Lynn & Gilbert
Morris
I have only read the first book, but I'm hooked. The
books, 6 so far, deal with a woman doctor in the
1800's and her adventures. To learn more go to The Official Cheney Duvall, M.D. homepage.

Marjorie Holmes
I have really enjoyed 3 of her books that I have
read: Two from Galilee , Three from
Galilee, and The Messiah. They bring the life of
Christ to life in novel form. Great reading!
Frank Peretti
I have really enjoyed this authors writings that take
us behind-the-scenes of spiritual warfare. My two
favorites are This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness. They are
great, on-the-edge-of-your-seat books! They're a fun
read.

Movies
These are some movies that I have seen and recommend.
The first two are a definite must see in wide screen
if you can find it.
Ben Hur - A classic! Great movie and awesome
message!
The Robe - This is the story of a Roman
centurion in
charge of the crucifixion, who wins Jesus' robe,
gambling at the foot of the cross. His life is
forever changed by this one event.
A Man Called Peter - The inspiring story of
Peter
Marshall. (His wife is Catherine Marshall, a writer.)
