Arthurs Pass Waterfall    John walked up to this waterfall, called The Devils Punch Bowl.  Too many mossies for me.

Bizarre Animal    Easter 97 we went to Nelson, and one day we made the trip to Takaka, and up the hill from Takaka was a Begonia place.  On our way to it we found this bizarre creature made out of driftwood and a horses skull.

@Drunken Debauchery   This is me (on the left with tongue out) Kathy, beloved in the front row, Lachy (strangling Kathy) and Lincoln out for a night of fun, food, and ALCOHOL!

Fiordland    Early morning looking down the valley on our way to Milford Sound, a perfect morning.

Flock Hill Snowfight    We went to Flock Hill for a Team Building exercise.  It is in the middle of the Southern Alps and Winter and we had 5 inches of snow, so what else, but a snowball fight!!  I am the one in the funny hat poised to throw.

Franz Joseph Glacier    It was a long walk through a couple of glacier streams, this photo is from a lookout. This glacier is one of the few growing and it is growing at an extraordinary rate for a glacier.  It is very easy to access and a popular tourist spot.  There are guided walks on it and flights over it.  Quite spectacular.

Kaiteriteri Beach    Home of the Golden Sands that gave Golden Bay its name.  This is nearly the northern most point of the South Island, on the way to Takaka.  A very popular spot in summer.  The North Island can be seen in the distance.

Mitre Peak    Once you get to Milford Sound, Mitre Peak dominates the view.  This particular view is on many postcards and is often painted.  This is around 8am and as you can see from the reflection in the water it is perfectly still.

Mount Cook across Lake Pukaki    We went to Mount Cook for Xmas day 95 and had a picnic.  This is a shot from the other end of the lake, Mt Cook is the pointy one in the middle.

Rakaia Gorge    The year after Flock Hill we went to the West Coast and took the Transalpine Express Train over the Southern Alps. This is a shot of the Rakaia Gorge from high up in the Alps.

West Coast Lake    I had not been to the West Coast so for Easter 93 we went over.  This is Stacey stretching after a nice sleep in the car on the way down to Franz Joseph.

White Heron Colony    We stopped here before we got to Franz Joseph to see if the trips to the colony were still going.  We were lucky and got the last 2 seats and only had to wait for half an hour.  It is a worthwhile trip, a nice jetboat ride on the lagoon, a leisurely walk on the DOC walkway and then time spent spotting herons from opposite the nests.  The white thing in the middle of the picture is an Adult Heron fishing.

Us at Benmore Dam    We decided to go for a drive around the lakes the long way round, and this is us at the Benmore Dam Lookout
