2000 Rose Garden photos Austin Garden 1 Taken Feb 96, Constance Spry can be seen reaching for the sky, these canes are the curved ones in the next photo Austin Garden 2 Taken Summer 97/98, Constance Spry is curving down in the front of the photo, a flower of The Prince can be seen with Winchester Cathedral and Heritage in the background. Long Rose Garden# The newest gardens, taken Summer 97/98 at the beginning of the season, mostly Austins in here Individual Rose photos Ambridge Rose a very nice photo as the bloom begins to open - taken with the new macro lens Birthday Present not a classic form but I love the colour and adore the fragrance Blue Moon *Brother Cadfael Still not sure about this rose, whether I like it or not *Bud # Playing around with my flash new macro lens Candella A nice shot showing the classic brushmarks on this rose *Cafe Ole I am really impressed with this photo :-) I am getting about 1/3 these colour blooms so far this season, fades quickly once open but WOW Chianti Claire Rose Two blooms showing the form and colour of this rose Constance Spry A nice photo of a fully open bloom Double Delight The rose was opening normally then we got a really sunny day and it went this colour! Emmanuel About the only decent bloom ever, still not impressed with this rose Evelyn # A fully open bloom, it pales as the bloom opens and ages Gertrude Jeckyll A really nice shot of a bud. It was the first one ever and I was afraid I had the wrong rose, how could a large fluffy bloom come from this elegant bud! *Gertrude Jeckyll This shot is of the whole bush at its best with quite a few flowers on it for GJ Glamis Castle Golden Celebration# I just love the colour and fragrance *GC again# This photo is a big one but its a very nice shot if I say so myself, won first in its class at the CRS Photo Competition last year Heritage About to blow completely, the only photo close to open I ever got Hot Chocolate The colour is a 'bit' orange but not far off it, I know some won't believe me :-) *Honorine De Brabant Shows the stripes and colouration well *Jayne Austin One of the quiet performers. Quite small but keeps throwing out lovely blooms on a regular basis and awesome fragrance Lagerfeld *LOTLWC Otherwise known as Land of the Long White Cloud and also Full Sail. Hasnt done to well for me but when I get a good bloom it looks like this! Leander# A nice rose and a good shot, this photo got 3rd at the CRS Photo Competition in April Leander 2 Some of the blooms are coming out a very rich apricot colour as this photo shows - taken with the new macro lens *Leander and buds This shot shows the lovely colour of a newly open bloom and the rich colour of the buds behind it Love I am particularly pleased with this photo, it was taken in morning sunlight and shows the two colours of this rose beautifully Mary Rose A nearly fully open bloom, with ruffled edges Moody Blues *Moonlight Lady I had forgotten I bought this rose and thought it was Irresistible, but noooooooo. Multiflora de la Grifferaie A 3 year old own root rose, and a wonderful nearly open bloom, colour is good too Old Port This one looks a bit pink but a nice shot of a nearly open bloom Oranges and Lemons Not the biggest photo but shows the colours and markings nicely, I like this rose Pascali1 A nice closeup of a bloom on the bush - taken with the new macro lens Pascali# This is bloom won Premier Novice Exhibiton Bloom 97 and the photo got Highly Commended. I love this rose! Pascali Stem This rose won Premier Novice Small Stem 98 for me!! Polar Star Prospero A much better photo but a lot bigger! Redoute *Sharifa Asma Takes a while to get going this rose, but it really puts on a show when it does. Very fragrant blooms Sheer Bliss Didn't think much the first year but changed my mind this year, I quite like it Shocking Blue The rose that started it all for me, and this is an example of why, the colour is very accurate Shocking Blue Bloom An older bloom and a bud off the same bush as the above photo, note the colour Show Table # My Pascali rose on the Winners Table, second from the left (a bit flashed out actually) Silver Shadow Sombrieul Several blooms on the bush, as Sombrieul was always in flower last summer *Sombrieul2 A close up of a fully open bloom showing the marvellous petal arrangement Souvenir de la Malmaison *Strange Music How could I resist a striped rose with such an intriguing name, and its been a great performer, always with blooms St Cecilia *St Swithun Another one of those slow starters that makes a big impact. Huge and sharp thorns on this rose but lovely blooms Superbowl An excellent example of a bud just beginning to open, colour a bit washed out though Superbowl2 A second year photo, colour is a little pink but it does that soon after opening here - taken with the new macro lens *Superbowl3 A closeup with the macro, again a bit pink but this is quite an arty shot IMHO Sylvia2 A closeup of Sylvia in very good form - taken with the new macro lens Sylvia A nice example of Sylvia Tamora # Or possibly Jayne Austin, I have forgotten now Tess at her Best# You can see the lovely form at this stage, but she doesn't open out at all well Tess fully open# An earlier bloom fully open, the later ones had more substance and just balled The Dark Lady# Two nice blooms of this rose, always in flower in her season The Prince Possibly not as dark as this rose gets but a nice example of the form when fully open. Tradesant This was taken at night just after it started raining, and the silvery tone on the petals is the reflection of the flash on the moisture. Colour is not purple enough but a nice example all the same. Velvet Fragrance Another good HT rose and a nice example in this photo, got Highly Commended at the CRS competition. *Warwick Castle Still not entirely sure about this rose, but it is an eyecatching colour Winchester Cathedral This is a good example of WC reverting back to Mary Rose. Nearly a half'n'half here ! *Winter Magic The only rose that has ever caught beloveds eye enough to comment on the colour from close up. A real star in the garden
