December 13, 1997: I was born at Starrview Kennels in Albion, NY. I have 4 other brothers and 2 sisters

December 25, 1997: I got moved from the house to the cozy kennel with my mom, my brothers and sisters, and lots of toys.

January 17: Some people came to see me and my brothers. They smelled like a dog I have never met. They played with us and picked us all up and finally chose me! My kennel mom cut some fur off at the base of my tail, and then I got put back with my littermates. What is the deal?

January 23: I am 6 weeks old today! Those people came to visit me again. They played with me for a while and kept saying how cute I am and what a fat head I have. I showed them that I already know how to retrieve pheasant wings! I still don't know why they are here.

January 31: These people are here again! I got a bath this morning and got groomed. I hate the dryer, so I yelped for a long time. I watched the people fill out paperwork and then they picked me up and took me away from my mom and littermates and put me into their car. I got a 45 minute car ride, and it was great! I played with toys and licked them the whole way home. They have a big old dog and 2 furry things with long tails that go "meow" and won't play with me. There is tons to chew on here!

February 1: I finally slept through a whole night without crying, but I miss my brothers and sisters. The big dog growls at me when I try to play with him. I just walk around all day crying. I hope I stop feeling so sad.

February 3: I went to the vet today for a check-up. I weigh 11.3 lbs, and am in perfect health. All the ladies that work there told me I was a charmer. I guess I'm a lucky man.

February 5: Mom put me in her backpack today and took me for a walk to the park with the big dog. She won't let me out because I don't have all my shots yet. We saw a girl with a 9 week old golden and she thought I was a cocker spaniel! She wasn't carrying her dog. My mom told her she should be careful.

February 11: Today I barked for the first time. (I have not barked since then, but oh well..)

February 12: I got my first KONG today, and it is the greatest. I LOVE peanut butter!

February 13: Mom took me to work today for an hour in my backpack to meet her friends. It was fun. I got very excited though, and I threw up my breakfast all over her bosses' leg. I thought he was going to throw up too!

February 14: It snowed last night and I got to play in snow for the first time. I love the snow, but it all melted by the end of the day.

February 15: Dad bought me a playpen today. It smells like plastic, but I like it. This way I can't get into trouble while mom is trying to work, but I can still be near her and not downstairs in my crate. If I have my Kong, I will go anywhere.

February 16: I went my first entire day without peeing in the house. Mom and Dad keep saying they need to get a steam cleaner. I don't now if this is for me, or the carpet I am destroying...

February 17: Today I rang the bell on the door when I wanted to go outside. Now I know why mom & dad ring the bell when they take me out. They were really happy that I did this, so maybe I will try it again.

February 19: Today I learned that humans don't like it when I stick my head in their crotches. If they are going to sit on the floor to play with me, then why not? I'm going to keep trying, every chance I get. It's most fun when mom is sitting on the floor stretching after her dance class. She has to use a pillow to keep me away!

February 20: I went to the vet again today to get my first permanent shots. The women there love me- I've got them wrapped around my little paws. I weighed 16.8 pounds. The vet said I am growing too fast, but when my mom called the breeder, she said I am just right- and that my sister weighs 18.2 pounds- fatso!

February 21: Today I learned what a vacuum cleaner is. I got so scared, I peed in my playpen, then I thought I'd roll around in it. I was soaked, so mom put me in the tub. The tub was so cool- all the water you could ever want. I think I will pee on myself more often. I like tea tree shampoo.

February 22: Today I learned that if you bother the big dog long enough,, and don't pay attention to his growls and bared teeth, he will try to bite your head off. I have never been so scared in my puppy life. The inside of an 11 year old dog's mouth is NOT very pretty, and it smells! I yelped really loud and ran off into the corner. I think I scared the big dog more than he scared me- he has been really nice to me ever since.

February 23: Today I realized that the big dog's Kong is much more fun then the tiny one mom got me. He's never getting it back!

February 26: Today I barked for the second time. I don't do it often. I am very choosy about such displays of emotion. That older dog barks nonstop. It's not very becoming to a gentleman like myself!

February 28: Today I went to the park for the first time. We went to one where there aren't other dogs, about 30 minutes away because mom is afraid I will get parvo. I went in the lake but was afraid to go swimming. Once I got in deep enough to get my tummy wet, that was enough cold water for me!

March 2: Today Dad brought home the Hoover Steam Cleaner. What a noisy machine! I am so bummed that mom cleaned up all of my precious pee spots on the carpet. As far as I was concerned, the entire upstairs was my territory. Not anymore. It smells so clean!

March 3: Today I finally learned to go down the stairs. I was so scared before, but it's really quite easy. Now I have full run of the house, and I finally can go downstairs to ring my bell to go out all by myself. No more accidents in the house for me! I also started to go up the steps too. Mom says I am too heavy for her to carry. I must be up around 22-24 lbs. by now. I am a big boy.

March 5: Today is the old dog's birthday. He's 11. I think he's a grumpy old fart. He never plays with me. They are paying so much attention to him, it is not fair. I deserve ALL of the attention!

March 7: Wow, does time fly or what? I am now 12 weeks old!

March 8: No more playpen for me, because I learned how to jump out of it! Just try to keep me in the pen. I have better things to do, such as chasing cats, and opening mom's hat boxes to steal the scarves inside.

March 9: Today I barked at my first intruder (well, it was just someone who knocked on the door, but this is my house!) I also got all muddy while mom was giving the big dog a bath in the yard and I then got to have my first big dog bath. The bathtub may be fun, but the hose is definitely the best.

March 12: Today I went for my first "big dog" walk on the leash, venturing out into the world! All I did was follow the big dog and act like he was, and I guess that made mom really happy. I didn't chew on my leash, but I did get mom and big red tangled up a few times!

March 14: Today we went for another walk, after it snowed a foot. I was taken to Dublin's favorite park for the first time and let off the leash. It was great. Dublin is actually starting to play with me! I knew if I harassed him long enough he would come around. Mom says I have excellent recall.

March 15: I must say that I regressed today. I peed in my cage overnight and then peed in the house 2x. I tried to tell Mom & Dad that this is because the neighbors are getting a new roof and all the noises outside really scare me. I don't know if they believe me or not, but maybe they will when they see how much paint I scratched off the back door trying to get in!

March 16: Mmmmmm. What an awesome day. Mom went grocery shopping today and brought home chicken wings! She gave me my first juicy raw chicken wing and I thought I was in heaven. She would only let me have a little bit, but I will be a good boy just to have more. We also got our new Innova dog food delivered. It's great too. What a lucky dog I am. Oh, and I went to the vet for my second shots, too. I weighed 23 lbs. The vet still thinks I am too fat, but the breeder says I am fine. I no longer eat puppy food, because I am growing very fast, and I am too mature to eat baby food!
