The longest single-span arch bridge in the world (1700')and the second highest in the U.S. (876') spans New River, one of the world's oldest rivers. This scenic, rugged section of the river has some of the East's finest whitewater, the epitome of all that is wild and wonerful in West Virginia.
West Virginia is the whitewater capital of the East, there are nearly 2,000 miles of waterways tough to match for beauty, challenge, and history. Coursing through the fabled Appalachians, over 60 rivers and streams can be rafted, kayaked, and canoed.

The roads in this region, the Potomac Highland, follow acicent Indian traits, the same routes traveled by German and Scotch-Irish settlers who followed George Washington's survey team.
